Organza Givenchy Perfume
Givenchy Organza Indecence, a woody amber fragrance created by Norbert Bjaoui and Jean Claude Delville in 1999, is a scent for women. Indecence (also known as the “black Indecence”) was probably introduced to complement Givenchy Organza, a feminine floral fragrance. Givenchy Organza Indecence was packaged in a frosted glass bottle with a clear top, shaped like a woman’s torso surrounded in a sheer silk gown. The design by Serge Mansau is a sexy one. Golden top of the bottle has a sculpture that could represent either a woman’s hair and head or a head with hat.

This name for this Organza is a perfect description of its character. This bouquet is composed mostly of spicy and woody notes, including cinnamon, patchouli and amber. It is intense, with a sharp scent at first, but then becomes sensual, erotic and soft.

It’s MY scent. This is my fragrance. It’s sweet, spicy, deep, and ambery. The original …. could not have been more perfect, except that it was discontinued just a few short years after its introduction. Waaaah! It was only two years ago that I heard about this fragrance in the Facebook Fragrance Friends Group. I immediately knew I needed to find it. It was about $25 for a 5-ml Ebay bottle and I fell in love. This is an oriental fragrance that’s sensual, rich, and voluptuous.
It’s not clear what changed, but perfumes no longer last as long on me. Organza Indecence is described by those who tried it as a long-lasting perfume with a strong sillage/projection. The EDP I purchased faded quicker than I wanted. On Ebay I bought a bottle of OI Body Oil that was unopened. I applied the peachy pink body oil and then layered the EDP over it. Yum. This is a deliciously enveloping dish.
Since I have used half my 5ml EDP bottle, I purchased a 1.7fl. oz. The original scent is becoming harder to locate. Here it is, in its original clear and frosted glass bottle. It’s so pretty!
What became of Givenchy Organza Indecence? In 2007, it was reformulated with a scent that is similar, but not identical. It was reported that one of the natural components was changed to a synthetic ingredient in order to comply with the new standards set by the European Fragrance Association and the International Fragrance Association. It was said that the bottle had also been changed into something more classic, simpler and less expensive.
It’s not clear to me that Givenchy still makes the Organza Indecence 2007 fragrance. The 2007 version of Organza Indecence is available online at Ebay, Amazon Fragrancenet Walmart.com and other discount retailers. However, it does not appear to be sold in department stores. Givenchy Organza is available at Macy’s, and the Givenchy site. It comes in the same bottle shape (although it appeared that the Givenchy web page was indicating it may not come in this bottle).
Why am I telling you about a discontinued fragrance? If you love oriental scents like amber or vanilla, then you might want to hunt for “vintage bottles” of OI on estate sales, Ebay, Amazon, etc. The Perfumed Court offers a wide range of sizes for both original OI and the new reformulated OI.
